iDEX aims at the creation of an ecosystem to foster innovation and technology development in Defence and Aerospace by engaging Industries including MSMEs, start-ups, individual innovators, R&D institutes & academia.
The iDEX initiative was launched by the Honourable PM in April 2018. iDEX aims to achieve self-reliance and foster innovation and technology development in Defence and Aerospace by engaging Industries including MSMEs, start-ups, individual innovators, R&D institutes and academia. iDEX has partnered with leading incubators in the country to provide handholding, technical support and guidance to the winners of iDEX challenges.iDEX will be funded and managed by a ‘Defence Innovation Organization (DIO)’ which has been formed as a ‘not for profit’ company as per Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 for this purpose. CIIE.CO is the Partner Incubator of the iDEX program since 2018, we are supporting & mentoring 7+ startups through the program.

Through the Defence India Startup Challenges (DISC), iDEX-DIO curates specific problem statements from each of the defence forces to address specific technological needs of the Indian Defence Establishment.
Mission DefSpace was launched by iDEX-DIO with 75 challenges in Space technology with funding opportunities upto INR 10 Cr.
Defence India Startup Challenges 9th edition (DISC#9) launched by iDEX – DIO with 28 challenges in Cyber Security space and funding opportunities upto INR 10 Cr.
Start-ups, as defined and recognized by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
Any Indian company incorporated under the Companies Act 1956/2013, primarily a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) as defined in the MSME Act, 2006.
Individual innovators are also encouraged to apply (research & academic institutions can use this category to apply).
