Supporting innovations that help mitigate and build resilience against climate change
Climate change has adversely impacted life and livelihoods across the world. There is an urgent need to reduce the pace of climate change and ultimately achieve Net Zero. Equally important are solutions that help minimize the impact on vulnerable communities and industries. The program will analyze India’s ClimateTech landscape, build ecosystem support and collaborations, and provide catalytic support for early-stage innovations that are helping in tackling Climate change and related issues.
The India Climate Tech Summit was designed to unlock growth for climate tech innovations through three levers – knowledge, network, and capital. The Summit brought together industry thought leaders and driven climate tech startups to foster knowledge exchange and collaborations. It included panel discussions, workshops, and startup pitches by sustainability leaders from the industry, as well as early- and growth-stage investors with a climate tech portfolio. The Summit created an intentional space for networking and collaborations to develop among participants.
The report landscapes India’s current climate tech startup ecosystem. These climate tech solutions are solving for critical challenges – arising as a result of both cause and impact of climate change – that make India the 7th most vulnerable country in the world. Highlighting the current market size and growth potential, the report identifies the Indian climate tech startup ecosystem – represented by over 800 operational climate tech startups and over $3.6 billion raised between 2014-2024 – to be a rapidly expanding market with substantial financing needs.
Over two years, the program will provide financial and other support to eight startups that are building solutions that help mitigate and build resilience against Climate change related risks.
