We are building a strong ecosystem with inspired partners including corporates, multilaterals, investors, and government stakeholders
We have been evangelizing early stage venture capital in India for more than 15 years – funding over 340 startups, and accelerating many times more. Investing both through our balance sheet at the pre-seed and seed stage (300+ startups) and through Venture Capital funds at early-growth stage (40 startups), our singular focus over the years has been backing fearless founders building disruptive solutions in their early stages. From an investment perspective, for pre seed investments we apply a founder-market fit lens and for seed investments we look for product visibility over and above the founder-market fit.
Our investments are sector agnostic with a broad focus on three thematic areas:
We understand the pain of building the first prototype or an MVP, especially in frontier tech areas such as Aerospace, Biotech, Cleantech, and Life Sciences to name a few. We have been working closely with Government Agencies, Foundations and Corporates to channel catalytic capital (in the form of grants and equity) for aspiring entrepreneurs who are building disruptive solutions for addressing problems in these areas. Through our initiatives focused on Deep-Tech, Digitization, Digital Inclusion and Sustainability themes we strive to de-risk the early stages of building deep technologies or solutions in such areas where risk capital is scarce.
We strive to bridge the “valley of death” faced by startups at the seed stage. While, at this stage, we typically invest between $100-150k per venture, we also draw upon our vast networks to syndicate capital from other co-investors. In our seed investing journey so far, we have an enviable record of 35+ profitable exits, with our portfolio having raised $250M+ in follow-on investments. Some of the marquee investors who have participated in our follow-on rounds include Sequoia, Accel, Matrix Partners, Qualcomm Ventures, pi Ventures, Falcon Edge Capital and many more.
Our seed to growth investments are driven in two directions – innovation and inclusion. Through the Bharat Innovation Fund, we invest in deep-tech, breakthrough innovations across Seed to Series B stages, initially between INR 3 to 15 crores. Through the Bharat Inclusion Seed Fund, we invest between INR 2 to 6 crores in startups applying technology to build solutions for the Bharat segment. The Fund is particularly focusing on high impact sectors like financial inclusion, livelihood, education and health. We also manage Infuse Ventures – a pioneer cleantech VC fund in India.
We are looking at supporting innovation opportunities across three broad areas.
Enabling game-changers who are building innovation-first ventures from India, for the world
Enabling passionate founders harnessing digitally inclusive solutions for India's next half billion
Enabling fearless entrepreneurs tackling climate change through their disruptive solutions
